Center on 5th began as the joint venture of four clinicians with a vision of forming a collaborative therapy practice that could provide a welcoming hospitable and safe space that promotes wholeness. We chose Center on 5th as our name with the multiple nuances of “center” in mind. We are downtown in the center of Goshen. We are all committed to practicing ways of centering ourselves as practitioners. We believe that people who use our services deserve to have that time centered around their lives and concerns to the best of our ability.

Shared Understanding:
Behind personal problems are systemic complexities that deserve to be named. We understand that none of us experiences our lives in isolation from the systems that shape us. These systems often privilege some experiences and some people over others and can hinder us from seeing ourselves or others with equal worth and dignity. Obstacles we face are often woven out of the pain we inherit.
Shared Values:
- Hospitality: We seek to create a space that fosters a sense of safety and welcome. We aspire to make this a place where diversity is honored and seen as an asset that strengthens us all.
- Dignity: We are committed to respecting the lived experiences, the internal wisdom, and the innate healing potential of each person who seeks our services.
- Excellence: We strive to bring the best of our professional knowledge and personal wisdom in ways that are relevant, practical, and doable. By staying current with new developments in our fields we continue to develop our own skills.
- Authenticity: We challenge ourselves to practice the same tools we promote for optimal emotional, spiritual, and relational growth and hold ourselves to the highest standard of ethics, and personal integrity.
- Honesty: We seek to remain open to examining our own assumptions and perspectives as we do this work so that our own blind spots can emerge and we can be changed and enriched by the people we see.
