Zac Bowman Cooke, MA, LMFT

I graduated with an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, but some of my most valuable training has been doing my own work as a client on the other side of the therapy office. Before pursuing a career in family therapy, I worked in refugee resettlement and other nonprofit settings, including living in an intentional community.

I offer you a human encounter where I honor your expertise and partner with you to explore and expand your story. As a couple and family therapist, I work with couples, families, and individuals to uncover and practice new patterns. I weave in mindfulness, client spirituality, and creativity as valuable tools for the journey.

My practice is informed by social constructionism, which pays attention to the language and meaning we ascribe to our experiences as a basis for change, and attachment theory which centers our desire for belonging and connection as the primary motivating force in our lives. I have studied or completed trainings in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Restoration Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, narrative therapy, family systems, and mindfulness. I studied abroad in Perú as part of my training in Spanish for mental health.

I have experience working with couple and family conflict, infidelity, sexual issues, trauma, men’s issues, gender identity issues, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, spiritual and religious issues, and cross-cultural issues. I enjoy working with a diverse array of clients from teenagers to older adults who represent a variety of orientations, identities, and spiritual or religious viewpoints. I would be honored to learn together with you and welcome you into a space of healing as you work through this tender time and discover your resilience. I do not accept any insurance but I am an enrolled provider with Telus Health and Lyra EAP programs.
